Meet the Huisingas.

Like many brewers, Nick Huisinga got his start home-brewing in his garage on weekends. With a background in science from his work in vaccine production, he quickly realized he didn’t just enjoy brewing—he had a talent for it.
Originally from Willmar, Minnesota, Nick discovered the Cuyuna Lakes area on a mountain biking trip in 2015. He came home and told his wife, Laura, “I found the place we’re going to build our brewery.”
That idea quickly became a shared vision. Along with their three kids, the family dove in—taking on renovations, living in tight quarters, and doing whatever it took to bring Cuyuna Brewing Company to life. In 2017, they opened the taproom doors.
When we say family-owned and operated, we truly mean it. What started as kids helping with demolition has grown into young adults pouring beer, washing kegs, and delivering product.
We’re proud to build this together—and even more proud to create a place where others can gather, connect, and enjoy time with the people who matter most. It’s an honor for our family to serve yours.
